EPAL Nails

We have been a certified EPAL nail manufacturer since 2000. These nails are used to manufacture and repair Euro pallets. The EPAL association has established a common European standard for pallets. They are widely used throughout the world, particularly in the logistics industry. Every nail carries an EPAL association marking that meets the criteria established for that marking. One Euro pallet requires 78 EPAL nails.

FAQ

  • 1. What EPAL nails are used for?

EPAL is an acronym used to describe European Pallet Association. EPAL regulates pallet dimensions, sizes, and measurements in Europe. Only EPAL certified nails are used for EPAL pallet manufacturing.

  • 2. What is EPAL nail marking?

EPAL nails are marked with a unique EPAL association marking that must conform with global quality requirements. These are established and verified by the EPAL organization.

For example, nails marked with “PK” marking will never have a diamond point and ring shank.

  • 3. What nail size nail should I use for pallet manufacturing?

The nail size depends on what kind of pallets you manufacture. All nail sizes are established by the EPAL association. To manufacture one standard EPAL pallet according to EPAL regulations 24 pcs. – 40 mm, 27 pcs. – 70 mm, 27 pcs. – 90 mm nails are used in a specific nail pattern to secure a wooden pallet structure. For more detailed information about the EPAL pallets please visit the official EPAL website: https://bit.ly/35IxJd2

  • 4. What are EPAL nail shank types?

A smooth shank allows for nails to enter the material more easily.

Ring shank nails have very high initial withdrawal resistance therefore they are widely used by many crating and pallet manufacturers.

  • 5. What are EPAL nail point types?

Diamond point is the most common nail tip. It gives the best possible penetration into the material.

Clinch point nails are used to secure boards of pallets and other wooden structures. The clinched nail tip bends easily under the metal base.

  • 6. What is a clinch nail point and where it is used?

Clinch point nails are used to secure the transverse and cover boards of pallets. The clinch point bends easily under the metal base which gives high withdrawal resistance. To better visualize how it works, see the example below.

  • 7. What are EPAL nail finishing types?

Bright nails are not coated with any protective finish layer which means they are more vulnerable to outdoor conditions.

  • 8. What is the price of EPAL nails?

Raw material prices are always changing so it is difficult to set constant prices. To get a quotation of our updated product prices, please contact us via email or fill out the inquiry form on our product page.
